I MISSED THESE..

A few weeks back, some of my colleagues left this place for sure, looking for greener grass. One of them was a senior here. It was quite sad to see one of your friends (although not so close) leaving. This friend was among us who together moved from Pekan to Kuantan.

I was talking to Ma the other day, about the journey of our working days. Although she only spent 2 years there and for me a year, somehow it was also one of our fondest memory . Moving here, we could say gave us a little bit of a “culture shock”. Well, in terms of the environment. There are times, where your work must be displayed in public or else you can’t claim you’ve done it. This is quite different from what we’ve practiced before. Whenever there’s work, make sure it’s done. If you have main duties/responsibilities, do that first. Do other work (such as folding documents/letters etc-mere examples) once your main task was fulfilled. That was fully understood by all. You’ll not hear any comments or sarcastic statements from others. Guessed that was one of the things that shocked us before. But when we get used to it, another thing needed time to get used to. Whenever there’re mkn2/pot luck, I used to bringing anything I want. Be it jemput2/buah/salad… anything, you name it.. Bawak aje. Nak makan, sila.. taknak, takpe. But then, it was not the practice here. We will have to state what are the things we’re bringing. Bawak buah ke? Ulam ke? Kuih ke? Teringat reply sorang member “aku bawak perut je”.. haha.. a good one.. tepuk2. So, I end up tak join and makan kat luor je. Macam tak bermasyarakat pulak aku nih. Hm, sbnarnye, bila org. dh tetapkan what to bring (takde consensus decision making) ni, mcm takde semangat lak. Sekarang dah tak macam tu dah.. Dah ok semula. Anybody wants to bring apa pun takpe.. atau sebenarnye org dah jarang buat dah?

I missed Pekan days. Waiting for bus in kebaya (now takleh pakai lgsg) and heels… then, chasing the bus. I missed my broken heels due to uneven tarred road dari gate KSP ke pintu bangunan. I missed having breakfast at cafĂ©. We always asked those having breakfast for “what’s good today?” Then, there’s always replies “jangan ambik mi, mi dia tak sdp arini” or “mihun dia sedap today, bleh amek”. I think we also missed ayam kicap Kak Long. I will eat that sambil mengepak (istilah utk mengurangkan perpeluhan). I met some of my 1st OM students a fews weeks before. It was nice to see them. All grown up and “expanded”. My mind time tunneled back to the episode where the Common Test for my subject was due that day. These students yg mmg besar2 dan panjang2 stalled me at the stairs nk naik ofis. I did stop, and end up summarizing the important chapters there and then. I missed them. When exam just around the corner, I will usually end up taking the tests papers back to mark. I believed the same applied to others. I missed marking students’ paper at my Sepekan Jaya house, slept on them, and woke up to continue marking again. I missed watching that Chinese series petang2.. think the title was Justice Pao kot..(kot tu hanyalah short utk rasanye, bukan nama cine tu). On Fridays, Ida, Dyla and me, or Ida, Azie and me (ikut pada pnduduk semasa rumah sewa) will walk to Rumah 500 to shop at the pasar malam. Jauh beza compared to the pasar mlm here. Ntah kenapa di sana lebih seronok..

I also missed balik lewat petang.. chasing the bus again, tp students tlg stopkan bas.. "cpt miss, cpt.." Terima kasih.. By the time the bus reached Sepekan Jaya, agak gelap jugak.. but my friends and I will tenyeh je duduk kat gerai simpang masuk, and had our dinner. There are people who looked dgn agak pelik, maybe asking.. kenapa minah2 ni, takleh makan kat umah ke? Tapi, perut kami lebih penting. I also missed van ikan yang mjual ikan in a limited kuantiti to us. Once I paid RM1 (paling keji) for beberapa ekor ikan..hehhe.. Malu nk kuarkan singgit.

Tpi, those are the things I miss.. What did you miss?
